Spicy Stuffed Mushrooms

Preheat oven to 350°

Ingredients:

5 Portobello mushrooms or 10 button mushrooms
1 turkey sausage link, without casing
1/2 tsp ground cayenne pepper
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
2 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:

Remove stems from the mushrooms. Arrange the mushroom caps, bottoms up on a medium baking sheet ( I recommend covering it with foil) Chop the stems and set aside.

Remove the turkey sausage from the casing and saute in medium frying pan. While cooking use a spatula break the sausage into small pieces.

While the sausage is cooking chop the mushroom stems

Once the sausage is cooked add the mushroom stems, bread crumbs and seasoning, Turn the heat to low.

Cook for 5 minutes until bread crumbs are slightly browned.

Turn off heat and add the cream cheese and Parmesan cheese and stir all ingredients together.

Stuff the mushrooms caps with the mixture

Bake in a preheated oven for 20 minutes
If this is one of many appetizers you'll be serving I recommend using the small button mushrooms. It's very easy to get filled up on this appetizer! If you want an even spicier mushroom you can use a spicy sausage.
